Why wouldn't I just hire a full-time DevOps?
Good question! Hiring a senior DevOps engineer full-time costs over $100,000 a year, plus benefits (and finding one is no easy task). Avoid recruiters and long hiring processes. Plus, you might not always have enough work to keep them busy, so you end up paying for downtime. With our monthly plan, you can pause and resume your subscription whenever you need, making sure you only pay for the DevOps services when you actually need them.
2
Is there a limit to how many requests I can have?
Nope, once you're subscribed, you can add as many DevOps requests to your queue as you want, and we'll tackle them one by one. You can even create an epic and split it into multiple tasks.
3
How fast will I receive my requests?
Most requests are wrapped up in two days or less. However, more complex tasks might take a bit longer.
4
Who are the DevOps?
You might be surprised to hear this, but The Good Shell is actually a agency of one. This means you'll be working directly with me, the founder. However, for specialized tasks, we might bring in some expert DevOps partners.
5
How does the pause feature work?
We understand you may not have constant DevOps needs. If you have just a few tasks, you can pause your subscription. Our billing works on a 31-day cycle. So if you use 21 days and then pause, you'll still have 10 days left to use whenever you need them.
6
What programs do you develop in?
We use a variety of tools based on what the task requires, including Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, Helm, Kustomize, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP.
7
How do I request new features, improvements, or bug fixes?
We offer a lot of flexibility for submitting DevOps requests. You can use Trello, share detailed Google Docs, or even record a Loom video. As long as it can be linked or shared, it works for us.
8
What if I don't like the solution?
No worries! We'll keep refining the solution until you're 100% happy with it.
9
Is there any DevOps work you don't cover?
Yes, The Good Shell doesn't handle proprietary software development, on-call rotation, or extensive on-premise hardware management.
10
What if I only have a single request?
That's totally fine. You can pause your subscription once your request is done and come back whenever you have more DevOps needs. No need to waste any of your subscription time.
11
Are there any refunds if I don't like the service?
Due to the high-quality nature of our work, we don't offer refunds.
